On Tuesday 5th October 2017, we were given the opportunity to take part in a poetry workshop with St Patrick’s Grammar and The Royal School Armagh.
The event took place in The Navan Centre and Fort and was organised to celebrate National Poetry Week. The theme this year was ‘Freedom’.
We were given the opportunity to work with Maura Johnston, the resident poet at The Palace Stables, and we took part in lots of fun activities which included interaction with the living history interpreters who gave us a glimpse of poetry from a bygone era.
Following the event, we returned to school and got busy writing our poems. A poetry reading evening was held on 28th November to celebrate all the work we had completed and winning poems were selected from each school and published in a booklet.
